Do you want to protect your greenbelt next to Outwood Country Park?

The Issue:

You may know that a developer has submitted a planning application to build an 11MW BESS on greenbelt land next to Outwood Country Park.

At the recent Planning Control Committee meeting on the 2nd September 2025, Holly Noble, Friends of Outwood Country Park and Cllr Mike Smith, Leader of Radcliffe First, presented the concerns of the community about the planned BESS project to be built on the greenbelt.

As a result of their impassioned presentations the Planning Control Committee went into a lively discussion and then voted to defer their decision on the planning application until the next Planning Control Meeting in October, 2025, which was cancelled and the date for the planning application to be heard is now Nov 18th

Next Actions:

There's a lot of technical papers to plough through and digest in respect of this planning application, then representations to the Council and developer can be made. One of the representations will be handing this Petition opposing this planning application, to the Council…and that’s where YOU come in.
