Atualização do abaixo-assinadoI do not support a transport plan that removes 826 car parks?New Plymouth Mayor doesn't care about parking around businesses

Behind closed doors last week in a meeting with Shane Devlin from Graphix and Gareth Green CEO of NPDC. Mayor Holdom said that he doesn't care about parking around the businesses on Devon St. West/South Road, saying they have had free car parking for years. The stretch of road between Dawson Street and Morley Street is not part of the main highway and is considered part of the CBD. Would be interesting to have his stance on all parking in the CBD. Let alone all the businesses on Devon St East when they do that.
Graphix has always paid for off-street parking for its team, so they are only concerned that their clients and the clients of the other businesses on the street can continue to frequent the area.
Waka Kotahi has given an extension of 1 month for the council to decide if it should go ahead against huge public condemnation. A petition of almost 8,000 signatures was presented to the council on the 27th of September, and also to David Seymour at the Act Party meeting on the 26th. David's mantra for this election is to stop government wastage. Which $15 million on cycle lanes for one road most definitely is.
At the end of 3 days of public hearings on the 15th of September Mayor Holdom promised that if the council couldn't work out a plan with shared cycleways, and no inlane buses, the deal would be rejected. Council staff have now recommended they keep with the original plan. It's yet to be seen if this promise will be honoured, I think not as the government is hell-bent on putting these all over the country. 1 month is also not enough time for any new plan to go through a proper public consultation process, so this decision will be made at the end of October without anyone having time to voice an opinion.
From this petition, I didn't get anyone's email address, but if you would like to know who on the council votes for this diabolical plan I can let you know so you can vote with your feet at the next local body elections. Please send through your email address to my email, sharon@graphix.co.nz. I will only email you for this reason.
Please keep letting the councillors know how you feel:
