Keep Hudson's hope boat launch open to locals

Keep Hudson's hope boat launch open to locals
Why this petition matters

On Friday, May 1, the district of Hudson's Hope released that they would be closing all recreational sites within the district to align with the provincial guidelines. In doing so, they have decided to close the dinosaur lake boat launch. We would like to ask the district to reconsider. Being in an isolated town as it is, there is not much left the families of the town can do to escape the monotony of being couped up inside. The residents are left with the option of walks and hiking, which is not a bad option, but being able to go boating with one's family helps change up the already limited options. Going out on the lake in the boat already follows the rules of social distancing. We encourage the district to reconsider the closure, and we suggest opening the boat launch for local residents of the District of Hudson's Hope only, while abiding by the social distancing rules; only having one household in the boat, no friends or guests, and operating the boat away from other boaters, as is usual when boating. We feel that these set of guidelines will be followed respectfully by the residents and that it would help lighten the moral around town. As we are already very limited in our activities that we can do, allowing us to have this little bit of freedom will help get us through. We not asking for the campground or group recreational sites to be opened, or even the dock, just the boat launch. Thank you.
