On Monday May 30th at about 9:30pm, Mamadou Diallo, 61, received a frantic call from his wife, who told him that a man was trying to rape her in their apartment. Mamadou who had been waiting downstairs in his car rushed upstairs and found a shirtless Earl Nash attempting to leave the building. 

In a fit of rage Diallo confronted Nash with a tire iron striking and causing him to fall unconscious. Nash was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Soon after Nash's Death, Diallo was charged with manslaughter, which was reduced to two charges of assault. As a result of the assault charges Diallo's license to drive his taxi was suspended by his employer and Diallo's family presently survives on the generosity of his community and friends. 

On August 10th the Bronx DA postponed a critical decision on Diallo's case pending the outcome of the autopsy. The next court date is scheduled for Sept. 6th 2016.

Sign this petition to urge the Bronx DA to drop the charges against Mamadou Diallo so that he may continue supporting his family as a taxi driver. Diallo responded to his family's call for help as we would all do in similar circumstances.
