Dissolve the Socialist Alternative Presence on Invasion Day

The issue

Invasion Day is a sacred time for listening, learning and centring First Nation voices, not a platform for uninvited entities to promote their own interests. It has been a deeply personal and disheartening experience for many to witness the Socialist Alternative use this time to prioritise selling magazines and maximising their profits, while elders speak and share their wisdom. This blatant disregard for the occasion is seen as a disrespectful intrusion upon a meaningful tradition aimed at protecting the nobility of First Nation bodies and voices.

Moreover, recent events have highlighted the Socialist Alternative's support for Sandra Bloodworth and their distribution of content that goes against everything our First Nation communities stand for. The ideology propagated by these harmful articles cannot be accepted. Decency mandates that this valuable day shouldn't be marred by such tendencies.

To ensure inclusivity and respect for First Nation communities and traditions, the guidelines detailed by these communities must be followed. These include if salt attend, all profits from any activities going to grassroots First Nation organisations with transparent bank statements, no Socialist Alternative banners or flags, and undivided focus on uplifting First Nation voices.

The Socialist Alternative's current behaviour is inconsistent with these ethical guidelines, which is unacceptable. It's time to protect Invasion Day and its fundamental ethos, to focus on abolishment of this date and First Nation sovereignty. This can only begin with the removal of Socialist Alternative as a political entity on Invasion Day.

Please, stand with us in restoring respect to Invasion Day by signing this petition.
