For many residents, the name Chandigarh Housing Board brings fear and stress. I am one of them, and my family’s story is the same as countless others in this city. Because of unexpected financial troubles, we missed a payment. Instead of support or understanding, we were hit with interest rates so high they feel unfair and exploitative. Every request for help is ignored, leaving us more hopeless each day.

The Board was created to provide affordable housing, but it has lost its purpose. Instead of protecting families, it now works against them. Its actions are neither transparent nor fair. Homeowners are even stopped from making small changes to their own houses, living under the constant fear of their homes being sealed.

Chandigarh is known all over India for its planning and harmony, yet its citizens are suffering under an institution that was meant to help them. This petition asks for change—either the dissolution or complete restructuring of the Chandigarh Housing Board.
