I am a dedicated student with a 92 average, passionate about learning and committed to my education. However, my educational journey at the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) has been hindered by one of our teachers, Ms. Grant. Despite the curriculum including Canadian history in grade eight, Ms. Grant refused to teach us this subject matter stating that "grade eights don't take history." This is not only incorrect but also deprives us of our right to comprehensive education.

Furthermore, her actions have escalated beyond just negligence towards teaching responsibilities. She has imposed what can be considered as collective punishment on us students - an act prohibited under international humanitarian law as it equates to a war crime when applied during armed conflict situations.

While we are not prisoners of war or in an armed conflict situation, this analogy serves to highlight the severity of her actions within an educational context where she is supposed to foster learning and growth rather than impose unjust punishments.

The impact of such behavior on young minds can be detrimental - affecting their academic performance and overall well-being in school (UNESCO). We believe that every student deserves a conducive environment for learning which respects their rights and encourages their development.

We urge the OCSB school board to investigate these allegations against Ms.Grant thoroughly and take necessary action if found guilty. It's time we put students' welfare first over protecting those who fail them repeatedly.
