Dismantle the School to Prison Pipeline: provide 100% waiver for record requests.

Dismantle the School to Prison Pipeline: provide 100% waiver for record requests.
The Issue
I believe in disability rights, in justice, and ensuring due process is met.
All voices have a right to be heard.
I am seeking a waiver of charges totaling over $4000.00 for public records requests. It will not be considered unless the public records office believes my intentions are for the greater good of the public.
No need to donate money on Change.org: Donations made on this website go to change.org.
I am not raising money and seek only signatures at this time.
Please sign the petition to express to the public records office you have faith in me.
I will share you trust in my intention to access records for the greater good of the public/nation/community for this project.
Some background:
Due to poor communication and lack of accountability, lack of care, ableism, and bias, and lack of understanding, a child I know has been in 20 educational placement changes in four years z
They are not alone in how inadequate special education is serving disabled children. Special education can be a broken system contributing to the school to prison pipeline. Kids pushed out of proper education settings and funneled out of graduating and into prisons.
Educational agencies have obligations to accountability and must do better.
By granting a waiver of costs for all outstanding public records requests, the largest school district in Oregon would share email correspondence between staff who at times were known to have made independent decisions on this child’s individualized services.
The district participated in disproportionate discipline while censoring and retaliating in response to parents utilizing complaint processes which take years to investigate and some are dismissive.
Records are suspected to have more educational records necessary to advocate for the child’s situation AND help support this larger project to increase awareness and help the greater good of all children.
FERPA complaints have been filed.
Allowing a waiver for fees, could set an example of transparency.
I want to create a book intended to expose practices that could improve and help promote change.
It’s a storytelling approach to increasing awareness of the need to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline.
I hope to recruit others who feel safe and willing to share their observations working or being a part of the educational systems too so if you have a story to share, please reach out.
Let’s raise voices, share stories and make a difference!
I want the future to hold greater transparency and accountability for our children, who are always the future.
