Discrimination In Workplace
The Issue
Stop discrimination!!!! It’s 2024 and it’s so upsetting that we’re still dealing with racism and a hostile workplace .
I’m currently employed at Wallenius Wilhelmsen (Volkswagen) new facility in Freeport Tx. With about 100+ employees with approximately only 10 being African Americans. With 15 new hires and only one being Black. No African Americans in management and maybe 3-4 in top paying positions. Since I’ve been employed with Wallenius Wilhelmsen I’ve witnessed nothing but racism towards the African Americans from operations supervisor Robert Gonzalez and his peers follow. Upon hire we was told that every individual would be trained in all positions at job. No one of color has yet to be trained in anything different but their Caucasian and Hispanic peers have been, even new hires have been trained in other areas. There are two leads and when they pull for training the Caucasian takes only her race and the Hispanic lead takes her race to train. The job requires workers to be shuttle on a bus from one location to another and the drivers are picked by Robert Gonzalez. Robert has yet to choose a black person to do this job. Even when he’s down to his last results instead of choosing a black trained person to operate shuttle bus, he will choose Caucasian untrained people by ( drivers own admission said I’ve never drove a shuttle bus before) comment was made after she left bus in drive on several occasions. Robert Gonzalez has allowed Caucasian women to threaten African American women in the the workplace without any repercussions. Robert also allowed another Caucasian employee to make racial comments (it’s hotter then black person picking cotton) again no repercussions!
It’s very stressful to work under these oppressive conditions. It’s causing a disgruntled and hostile environment, employees should be able to go to work in a safe environment and not be single out because of the color of their skin.
All reporting protocols has been followed starting from frontline supervisor to Human Resources.
