The Issue

When people with disabilities on SSI marry, they may lose financial aid and Medicaid. Shifting SSI from cash payments to UBI digital dollar benefits could save $90 billion each year. We urge Congress, the Senate, and the President to implement these changes.

Franklin D. Roosevelt argued that "living wages" should mean more than bare subsistence, defining them as wages for "decent living" rather than just survival.

I want to apologize to anyone I took money from to go towards this petition. It has been a long time that disabled people have been advocating for marriage equality to live a life similar to non-disabled individuals. I am sorry that the government has lied and continues to lie about fixing Medicaid, SSI, or giving raises to disabled people; it is all misinformation. The government's intention seems to be to maintain this false narrative to secure votes from the disabled community. I regret staying on SSI all these years, as it was my parents' choice to enroll me in the program. If I had known ten years ago what I know now, I would not have accepted any money from taxpayers, despite being disabled. I am determined to go my own way and work towards healing from the trauma caused by this situation.

The social security trust fund will deplete by 2035. If you want to protect your contributions, you should reconsider and pay attention to my advice.

Renew the ACP as the Disability Internet Act with $7.5 billion in funding, prioritizing seniors with disabilities and veterans. This approach would cost less than $17.3 billion and reduce internet bills by $15.

• Raise the SNAP benefit payable rate from $36 to $118 annually.

• If society desires for individuals with disabilities to enter into marriage, it should or prehaps also support their health and welfare.

• The SNAP program ought to be expanded to include hygiene items such as haircuts, soap, shampoo, and laundry detergent.

• Bridge the gap in employment and education for individuals with disabilities.

• Develop and improve apprenticeship and pre-employment training programs tailored for people with disabilities to help them build skills and gain valuable experience.

 • Uphold existing laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act, while also proposing new legislation such as the PRO Act to enhance worker protections.

• Offer tax breaks or additional perks to companies that employ UBI recipients, making sure that they have access to workplace adjustments and flexible scheduling.

• Create centralized hubs where people can apply for UBI, receive job training, access healthcare, and obtain social services in a single place, streamlining the process and reducing administrative complexity.

• Implement tax incentives or other advantages for employers hiring SSI recipients, ensuring that workplace modifications and adaptable hours are provided.

I think the SSI program should shift to a UBI digital dollar linked to minimum wage, offering $1,900 for individuals and $3,800 for couples since prices have risen since starting this petition two years ago.

Regulations also need updating so people with disabilities do not lose benefits when receiving assistance from other agencies. The SSA’s classification of this support as unearned income creates unnecessary barriers.

I strongly urge Congress to make these important updates. Also, Section 8 should end for able-bodied adults after two years and be shifted to assist disabled individuals.

I suggested implementing a basic income system or digitizing retirement benefits like SSI SSDI, limiting benefits to disabled people.  By needing disabled people to confirm their eligibility thru an portal this could cut the number of Medicaid workers in half.

I think that anyone receiving benefits and SSI disability must be drug tested.  My own family avoids me until I have a house and a car, which gives me the feeling that they're still using something. This is not driven by hatred at all; if a person tests positive, they need to lose all benefits. Likewise, it seems that people are less inclined to link with you if you don't have car or a house.  But in the end, I can't control how other people do; since I can't rely on others for support, I must try to focus on myself.

I implore Congress to enforce these reforms. Likewise, upon 2 years, able-bodied adultsmay be used to must no longer receive Section 8 assistance; rather, funds support disabled people.

Disabled people are victimised by this penalty, which forces them to choose between marriage and the support they need or to their loved ones. This is an unfair and harsh practice.

• We, together with individuals with disabilities, believe that the marriage penalty is both unfair and ineffective.

• Those with low incomes deserve equal rights and opportunities, just like all other individuals.

• The current system discourages marriage and family formation by penalizing those who wish to join with a partner, which can prevent individuals from marrying or starting a family, ultimately impacting their quality of life and the well-being of any future children they may desire.

• By eliminating this penalty, individuals and families receiving government assistance can marry without the worry of losing essential financial support.

• This adjustment will help guarantee that people can form loving, supportive relationships and care for their families without facing government penalties.

• Sign this petition to promote fairness and equality for all low-income individuals in our nation. Together, we can ensure that love and commitment are not punished, allowing all families to receive the support they need to flourish.

Thank you for your support.
