Sir,

We the residents of the Nilgiris strongly object to the posting of ADSP D. Kumar from the Sathakulam PS to the Nilgiris as ADSP PEW, Ooty.

Mr. D Kumar headed the Police Station where the heinous crime: the murder of P. Jeyraj and J. Bennicks took place in the police station premises. Mr. Kumar must be held responsible for permitting such a crime to take place under his jurisdiction. His lack of leadership and his inability to act decisively deems him unfit to wear the uniform of a Police officer.

As citizens of The Nilgiris and Tamil Nadu, we believe that he should also be suspended from active duty and not transferred to another district and, thus, putting the residents in harm’s way. Given his track record, we fear Mr. Kumar will not hesitate to continue his violent and inhuman behavior at the slightest opportunity he gets.

The Nilgiris residents are a peaceful people. Our crime rate is one of the lowest in the state. We do not require any of our departments headed by a tainted police official who could corrupt the minds of other officers, while he condones violence on the innocent residents.

We request you to kindly cancel his posting to the Nilgiris and suspend him from his position until the enquiry is over.

We also request you to hasten the enquiry in the interest of citizens of The Nilgiris and Tamil Nadu.
