The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act enacted by the Parliament has been around since 1960. The Bureau of Indian Standards has also approved the removal of any mention of animal tests from the country's cosmetics standard. In the light of these developments, the setting up of the NARF is a step backwards for animal welfare in India.

There is  a vast range of non-animal research methods available to bio medical researchers such as epidemiological studies, clinical studies, computerized simulations, chromatography, spectroscopy and non-invasive imaging techniques. Please consider using these alternatives instead of testing on animals. Stop the construction of NARF.
