Bring Back Mary Martell

Bring Back Mary Martell
The Issue
Today, Holy Cross parents received a letter informing us that they would not be having our beloved principal, Mary Martell, return to the school. This is reckless and ill-advised during these uncertain times. During the COVID Closure alone:
● Mary delivered 3 meals a day for 9 refugee families, and other school families in need,
every day from March 16 until June 12.
● She delivered 19 sixth grade graduation signs to homes and had socially-distanced pep
talks with each of them, a 6 hour endeavor
● Went to student’s houses daily to drop off and pick up school work, bus forms, special ed
paperwork during COVID (March 16-June 12)
● Sent 275 handwritten postcards to students during school closure to let them know how
much they were missed at school.
● She planned and organized theme days and spirit weeks during distance learning so the
students would still feel connected to the school community.
● Planned virtual school prayer services students could watch so they would still feel
connected to the school faith community.
● Worked for half salary, after first being told she was laid off
These are just a snippet of her efforts that are now being discounted by asking her to leave. She is a fighter for our children, an advocate for them and a constant in these chaotic times. She responds to all parent concerns and remains professional at all times. Please sign this petition to help us keep Mary in our Family of Families!
