We have an URGENT request for Victorian Residents to sign another Petition.
Aerial Baiting in Victoria is not authorised, but special permission was obtained from the Commonwealth to aerial baiting in Victoria with 1080 across 6 regions.
This permission is due to expire in December 2019 and there is already moves to renew the permission, to double the size of the aerial baiting. This would mean broadscale aerial baiting with 1080 across areas of regional Victoria. This will of course be horrific for all animals, wildlife, threatened species including the Dingo protected in Victoria under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act and of course the Spot Tailed Quoll a threatened species under the EPBC Act. All will die a certain horrific death.
We believe it is time to stop the use of toxic poisons in our environment and to invest in research to find ways of working with introduced species if necessary. The annual millions of dollars invested in toxic poisons, which has never worked, must be invested in research and implementing alternatives. Not to mention of course, the minimal stock loss on a percentage basis of actual stock, does not equate to the level of toxic poison baiting being envisaged and which is already being dumped into the environment. The scales are tipped, and we must act now before the renewal slips through. We are running out of time!
Our own native apex terrestrial predator the Dingo is already a good start, we must stop destroying the Dingo and allow our biodiversity to return to its natural state; stop relying on toxic poisons in the environment. The use of 1080/Sodium Monofluoroacetate is banned in America and most other countries in the world because it is a threat to the Environment.
