Digital Dignity and Vulnerable Persons Protection Proposal

Digital Dignity and Vulnerable Persons Protection Proposal
The Issue
This campaign seeks to protect vulnerable individuals worldwide—including children, people experiencing homelessness, and individuals experiencing distress—from being recorded, filmed, or shared online without their informed consent. It advocates for stronger legal protections and clear platform accountability to prevent digital exploitation.
The proposal also calls for accountability for content creators, influencers, and parents/guardians who:
Exploit animals in distress for online engagement.
Deliberately provoke or “rage bait” individuals to capture their reactions for profit.
Film or monetise vulnerable people, including the homeless, children, distressed, or disabled, for financial gain or digital notoriety.
Post content featuring their children online for financial profit or personal digital influence.
What the petition seeks:
1. Protect vulnerable individuals from non-consensual filming and online distribution.
2. Give children the “Right to be Forgotten”, granting them the authority to request the permanent removal of any social media content featuring them that was posted by their parents/guardians.
3. Hold social media platforms accountable for failing to remove exploitative content.
4. Ensure influencers, content creators, and parents/guardians are responsible for any harm caused, including fines and mandatory content removal.
5. Prevent staged or harmful content involving animals.
By supporting this campaign, signatories urge the government and relevant authorities to introduce measures that uphold human dignity, safeguard vulnerable individuals, protect children’s digital rights, and ensure responsible conduct in digital media.
