Did you know women with dense breasts are 4-5 times more likely to develop breast cancer?

The Issue

Every year millions of women receive letters after annual mammograms.

Many of these letters congratulate women on their normal breast imaging exam.

But under some state laws the imaging center is required to disclose that the presence of dense breasts may make it more difficult to detect abnormalities in the breast and may be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.

The letter goes on to encourage women to talk to their physician to decide which screening options are right for them.

When I inquired to ask what can be done to make sure everything is in fact "normal"

I personally have been told it won't be covered by insurance unless something suspicious is found.

This makes no sense!

This is why the numbers rise for women with dense breasts to 4-5 times likely of getting breast cancer.

Proper testing is life saving!

It's time we ask health insurance companies to allow additional screening options for at risk women with dense breasts which may include ultrasounds and Breast MRI's.

Women should not be dying because there is a solution. It’s Proper screening!
