“A “troll” is a person who starts flame wars or intentionally upsets people on the Internet by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses and normalizing tangential discussion, either for the troll's amusement or a specific gain.”

Dianna Ploss’s group are trolls. They use white supremacist symbols and other taunts to try and provoke responses specifically by offending people. Any civilized society should find this behavior abhorrent and antithetical to the idea of “free speech”. We have ignored racist jokes, comments, and symbols for far too long. Racism hurts everyone. Online, we can block, ban, and delete trolls which is how we push them out of honest dialogue. In real life, we have to gather as a community and let them know their behavior is unacceptable.
