Animal Cruelty At Pet Supermarket - FL
The Issue
6/26/21 (Red links are live)
According to the woman seeking help Pet Supermarket took in 18 + rabbits from her that were dying from heat stroke, illness and neglect due to her employee abandoning them. Instead of Pet Supermarket calling rescues or a shelter for help, allegedly they irresponsibly, inhumanely and cruelly gave the bunnies and rabbits away for FREE despite they were in need of rescue and veterinary care.
Some of the rabbits were heartlessly allowed to be given for live snake food and seen dangled by their ears, a terrifying and painful act that can result in broken ear cartilage and fractured spines. Going from a neglectful situation to being suffocated and crushed to death is nothing less than animal cruelty. How incredibly appalling -
The suffering rabbits were failed three times and the neglectors and irresponsible caretakers go without consequence. It is not acceptable for a retail pet store to take in and promote/distribute, dying and possibly diseased pet bunnies and rabbits to the public, it also a health hazard. The helpless fragile baby bunnies and adults were offered free to people unprepared or unable to provide for their needs or medical care, they were simply sent out to finish dying or to once again, be dumped and left to suffer and die.
I called the Fort Lauderdale Pet Supermarket this morning 6/29/21 asking if they had any more FREE rabbits from the 26th, I was told no, they were all “Rescued and Donated”.
We the petitioners ask the CEO of Pet Supermarket to take responsibility for the cruel actions by their employees at the Fort Lauderdale store. The public will no longer tolerate inhumane treatment and appalling animal cruelty practices at pet stores.
If you were also at Pet Supermarket on 6/26/2021 and saw the deplorable animal cruelty of the helpless sick rabbits, please contact me.
For The Rabbits,
Linda Sue
