Once again, I want to thank everyone for taking part in this petition, but we still have a ways to go. Travis is still has his accounts up and we need to rally up more heroes if we want the admins of the sites that he’s on to take down his accounts and everything he’s posted, including but not limited to his “art”. Speaking of which, here’s a stamp that he see: a stamp titled, “YOU’RE NOT FUNNY. You’re just an asshole.” made by World-Hero21. Just like from before, I will quote some of the text from the stamp’s description and write down some of my input on it.
“Decided to post this one today because it's September 11th. I really hope I don't have to explain why.
But when it comes to catastrophes, disasters, and other sensitive topics like rape, it's never okay to make jokes about those things. Those things can be a very touchy topic for some people, and trying to make a joke out of something really horrible can be very hurtful. I would know because I'm still a bit emotionally traumatized by 9/11. I was only 9 years old, on the other side of the country, and was just starting to grasp the concept of death...when I saw death happen in real time via a live broadcast.”
As said from before, Travis has made fun of sensitive and/or serious subject matters, such as cyberbullying (e.g. flaming on one’s harmless art), suicide by cyberbullying, and the likes. If a victim of such things were to see Travis’ “art”, they may become traumatized by it and he may not care about their feelings. This shows that he doesn’t any know better.
“If joking about serious shit is how you cope with bad-feels, keep the joking to yourself or between friends who aren't that sensitive to such topics. That way, you don't unintentionally insult people.”
Yet, he posts it on the web, resulting people being insulted.
“I’ve seen people crack jokes and puns about the Boston Marathon bombings. I've seen/heard jokes about 9/11 and other catastrophes. I've seen tons of jokes about rape. I've had people joke about having cancer, a terminal disease, disability, injuries, etc. And I've seen Bronies photoshopping ponies into pictures of tragic events, such as the Holocaust and other horrific events.
‘B-BUT IT'S SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT FUNNY!’
‘I HAVE CANCER!!!1!! NAH, I'M JUST KIDDING. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL~’
Guess what my reaction is to all of that? Fuck you.”
What Travis would say: “EET’S DE INTERNETZ! IF U CAN’T HADUL IT, GIT OFF DE INTERNET, FAGGOT!”
My reaction: “Fuck you. Just fuck you, you indecent feral animal. You don’t deserve to be called ‘human’.”
(Sorry for that, but I had to get that off of my chest.)
“Making parodies of tragic events to make people feel better is funny. Using people's photos of tragic events and 'shopping in a cartoon character is not funny. Especially when you have the character reacting to the tragedy in a happy way.”
He has done similar antics like that from before and they’re mostly negative propaganda. Not funny.
“I hate to ruin the fun for you, but you're an asshole if you do that last one. A lot of people were killed/injured during those incidents and many people have died from cancer and other diseases. There's a difference between being a likeable asshole and using mild humor in good taste and timing, and being a disrespectful asshole by taking the humor WAY too far. Family Guy, South Park...Those shows are entertaining because they make parodies about tragedies very frequently. But they're tastefully done in a way that doesn't take the humor too far.”
Travis’ humor is far from being anything like the humor that would be found in cartoons like Family Guy and South Park. Here’s why: propaganda that promotes abuse. Trolls and cyberbullies have faved his art and their abusive actions have been influenced by Travis’ “art”. That is his “art” is propaganda; not entertainment in vein of such cartoons. His “art” is not tastefully done and his humor takes thing too far.
“‘It's not a big deal anymore, so they should just grow up and get over it!’
NO. No, it is a big deal because trauma does NOT go away very quickly. You think the victims and their families have gotten over the Boston Marathon bombings? Sandy Hook Elementary shooting? Someone close to them dying from cancer? No, they haven’t.”
In Travis’ case, it is a big deal because his “art” is propaganda that should not be on the sites that he’s on and some people have gotten enraged by it.
“This is why it can take months or even decades of coping to finally ‘get over it.’ Trauma can not only leave physical scars, but emotional scars too. And sometimes, people are scarred for the rest of their lives.”
The same effect does apply to anyone who saw his “art” and gotten angry about it, anyone who got harassed by him, anyone who saw him talking bad stuff about them behind their backs when he thinks they’ll never see his post but they will at some point, etc.
“So unless you're doing it for a TV show or a movie, or you're a professional at making crude jokes without being too insulting, don't crack jokes about tragedies.”
He is far from being a professional at making such humor. Here’s not doing his humor for a movie, a show, etc. With that said, this justifies on why he should not be welcomed on social media at all. He is a bad influence that should’ve been stopped ages ago.
Remember, we can get him kicked off of the sites that he’s on by doing the following:
- Chipping in. (If everyone who signed this petition were to chip in $3, we would reach the 1,000 signatures goal sooner!)
- Sending the petition directly to others. (Email, SMS, etc.)
- Posting it on social media. (Remember, avoid posting this on Twitter and Instagram because of Travis himself!)
We’ve come a long way on this but however, this campaign has just gotten started in a way!
