Balaclavad men in black channelling their blackshirts of Oswald Mosely energy, brought racism, fascism, intimidation and violence to the streets of Portsmouth and Dover in the past few weeks. Daniel Thomas and his plastic pound-shop patriots have inflicted fear and division on communities, masquerading their racism and hate as nationalism.

In these past weeks, they have targeted the heroes of our Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) who risk their lives to save strangers at sea. It is unbearable for us, the real silent majority, who stand for peace and openness, to witness such outrageous attacks against the RNLI, our police service and communities.

Their tactics, intimidation, harassment, and spreading of vile, racist propaganda, are not representative of the true spirit of British patriotism. Instead, they are acts of domestic terrorism designed to strike terror within communities of colour. Their actions speaks to the normalisation of racist vigilante violence on our streets and their contempt for the rule of law.

How can we allow this?

Government currently has the power to intervene and prevent this from escalating further and protect the decent silent majority. We need decisive action to ensure the safety and unity of our neighborhoods.

By designating the Patriot Platform as a proscribed racist terrorist organisation, the government would be sending a clear message that this domestic terrorism has no place in our society and holding them accountable for terrorising our beloved communities and institutions.  At the very least this issue needs to be debated in Parliament

I want Portsmouth, Dover and all communities across the UK, to be places where everyone can feel safe and valued irrespective of the colour of their skin.
