It’s been a while since I last provided an update on the Bloor campaign, but there a couple of new developments to keep you posted about.

  1. The Infrastructure and Environment Committee unanimously passed a motion to make the Midtown Yonge Complete Street Pilot permanent at Monday’s meeting. It will go to City Council for a final vote next week. If you haven’t already, please sign the Yonge4All petition which has almost 9,000 signatures and e-mail your councillor. You can refer to Cycle Toronto’s recent action alert for a sample e-mail.
  2. The City of Toronto is collecting feedback from businesses along the proposed Bloor extension from Runnymede to Six Points regarding their loading needs. If you are a business owner in that area, the deadline to complete the survey is Monday, February 6.
  3. The City of Toronto is expected to host public consultations in March for the first phase of the Bloor extension from Runnymede to Royal York. I will share the dates as soon as they are announced, though you can go to the project website and request to be added to the mailing list.
  4. For those of you who live in the east end, public consultations for the Danforth-Kingston Corridor are also expected to take place in March. Again, you can go to that project website and request to be added to the mailing list.

After the Midtown Yonge bikeway gets settled next week, it’s time to renew our focus on Bloor. Please share the petition widely, as well as e-mail Mayor John Tory (mayor_tory@toronto.ca), Councillor Gord Perks (councillor_perks@toronto.ca), and Councillor Amber Morley (councillor_morley@toronto.ca) to send a message that WE BELONG ON BLOOR!
