I am a proud first nations descendant of the Quandamooka people of the Nunukul nation from North Stradbroke Island, through the Ruska bloodline, my families are the Coolwells and Ruskas.

I am not at liberty to disclose further personal information and family identifiers. Change.org officials have received my Aboriginality certification for verification purposes only. This document contains sensitive personal information and will not be shared, published, or disclosed without my explicit written consent.

Yes, I currently have two active petitions each with distinct and important goals. One calls for the deportation of Thomas Sewell, a New Zealand-born extremist charged over a violent attack on Camp Sovereignty. The other proposes a constitutional amendment to enshrine a new chapter. Chapter IX within the Australian Constitution, protecting the civil rights and liberties of all people under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth, including First Nations people. This Chapter does not explicitly need to mention first nations people we live within the commonwealth's jurisdiction.

Chapter IX: Commonwealth Bill of Rights is a proposed constitutional safeguard designed to protect all Australians, including First Nations people, from overreaching laws and powers that erode or terminate our natural civil liberties. When I say “all,” I mean it.

I want to make it clear that the update I posted in the early hours of Tuesday morning was not a pivot from the original goal. It was a necessary step to promote transparency around the legal pathway required to achieve Sewell’s deportation. I recognised that reform is needed, and I chose to be honest about it.

Any successful law reform will still require judicial oversight. The government cannot simply deport individuals, that decision would rest solely with the High Court. And to be absolutely clear: First Nations people cannot be deported. This was confirmed by the High Court in Love v Commonwealth; Thoms v Commonwealth [2020] HCA 3. Any claim suggesting otherwise is legally and undeniably incorrect.

While it may be true that the first nations community has never called for deportation laws to be reformed (there has never been a need), the past two day have seen a very strong support for the deportation of Thomas Sewell from the first nations and the wider community, 64000 signature in less than 48 hours shows that support.

Yes, I used AI to help gather and structure factual information. Aside from one incorrect citation of the year 2023, all other content is accurate and legally grounded. Petitions are not meant to be perfect they are meant to be honest tools of civic expression put immune from mistake. If anyone felt misled, I sincerely apologise. That was never my intention.

I stand by my work. I stand by my people. And I stand by the truth. Let’s keep going with clarity, courage, and community.
