The presence of individuals associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Canada, such as Fatemeh Dabiri, is a matter of great concern for many Canadians. The IRGC has been designated as a terrorist entity by the United States and has been involved in numerous human rights abuses in Iran and acts of aggression abroad, including the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752, which resulted in the tragic loss of 176 lives, including 57 Canadians.

Allowing individuals connected to such an organization to reside in Canada threatens our national security and undermines our commitment to justice and human rights. These individuals may influence or fund activities that could endanger the lives of Canadian citizens or compromise our safety and democratic values.

According to the Public Safety Canada's 2018 report, the IRGC has been identified as a terrorist entity under Canadian federal law, which provides a legal framework for deporting individuals associated with this group. The government has a responsibility to protect Canadians from foreign interference and national security threats.

By enforcing the removal of people like Fatemeh Dabiri and other IRGC affiliates, Canada would be taking a firm stand against terrorism and injustice. This would also act as a deterrent to those who wish to continue their affiliation with terror and human rights violations while benefitting from the freedoms provided by Canada.

We urge the Canadian government, particularly Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), to prioritize investigations into individuals with suspected ties to the IRGC and take immediate action to deport those found in violation of Canadian law.
