Petition updateVA: Accept Offer to Preserve Old-Growth Forest in IndianapolisA Final Stand for the Crown Hill North Forest

Indiana Forest Alliance
11 Mar 2017
Despite Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett finally calling on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to "halt their efforts to develop the site," the trees at Crown Hill North Forest are slated to be cleared within days.
We invite you to take a final stand for the Crown Hill North Forest this Thursday, March 16 from 4:30 - 6:00. Bring a crew, signs, and a peaceful frame of mind. Veterans, schoolchildren, and Indianapolis neighbors alike will be speaking about why this irreplaceable forest must be saved.
Reports that the VA has honored our wishes to preserve this old growth forest by saving larger trees are patently misleading. This was never about saving a few big trees. This campaign has been about preserving an entire old growth forest for all of us in Indianapolis. In fact three forest biologists--including a past Indiana Academy of Science president--conclude that "all efforts should be made to conserve this example of Indiana's natural heritage."
The Indiana Forest Alliance and our allies are steadfast in our work to turn the tide for the environment in Indiana. Visible displays of our support for the environment send a powerful message to our elected officials. Please stand with us once more this Thursday at Crown Hill.
