Cyclists to Require Registration and Insurance to Ride on Queensland Roads

Cyclists to Require Registration and Insurance to Ride on Queensland Roads
The issue
I live in the city of Brisbane and every single day without fail I see cyclists using the Queensland Roads whether it is in a suburban area or the CBD and almost every single time I spot a cyclist they are causing havoc on the roads. They go through red lights, they don't use their allocated space on the roads, instead they like to (most of the time) ride in the actual car lane and cut motorists off. Why? Probably because these cyclists have too many rights with no recourse for fowl road etiquette.
They do not have a registration plate, therefore they are unidentifiable. They do not pay registration fees, therefore have no respect for registration paying citizens, and third of all they do not have insurance, therefore they do not care if they cause an accident because they wont have to pay the premium... Why? Because no one even knows who they are to make a claim against them in the first place!
Why should cyclists be able to go through red lights and cause potential accidents without any repercussions? Why should cyclists be able to cause accidents on our roads with no form of insurance or recourse? They have no form of identification therefore they have the ability to act wreckless without penalty.
Cycling is becoming more and more popular with the health and fitness trend on the rise. Sure, this encourages health and fitness while "saving the planet" by not driving to and from work, however cyclists are causing issues for motorists on the road and on occasions can cause terrible accidents which in some cases can be fatal. These cyclists cause anger and distraction amongst motorists, while also not contributing to the fees motorists have to pay to drive on these roads and maintain them.
This needs to come to a stop! I am not saying that cyclists should not be allowed to ride on the roads, I am saying if they wish to ride alongside motorised vehicles and use the roads fairly, they should be required by law to pay registration and insurance. If they want to put theirs and others lives at risk by not riding in their allocated spaces, going through red lights and continually cutting off drivers, then do so at your own risk, but at least do it insured and start paying registration to use the roads and so we can identify you!
