Dear Honorable President,

We trust you are well and prospering in your soul as you prosper in all things. We would like to commend you for your swift and decisive leadership during our fight against COVID19. You have displayed great wisdom, heart and patriotism and we  can only imagine the sort of pressure you are currently facing, innumerable phone calls, meetings and late nights. Our heart truly goes out to you and we are praying for you.

It is not our intention to add to your troubles but we as Uncommon People (Group of pastors) saw it necessary to write to you. The church throughout history has played a significant role globally in the building of nations, a role that cannot be denied.

We note with a heavy heart as some industries are reopening, the ban on cigarettes lifted which by far does not come close to being an essential need but the church which is and will always be an essential need is not featured in the respective reopening phases. Various people come to our churches to find help in times of trouble; We counsel, guide, educate, mitigate in various disputes, marry, bury people, pray for the sick and see them recover.

The effects of restricting churches will not yield our country any favorable results but will take us into a deep pool of spiritual confusion and pain. Our people are vulnerable, hopeless and need a new dawn that will renew their hopes and dreams

We ofcourse agree that we must have precautionary measures in place when we reopen such as supplying our members with masks, gloves and sanitizers. Mr President, people can easily contract this sickness from their local grocery stores, clinics, filling stations, workplaces etc. We believe that our solution lies in adopting reasonable precautionary measures that will alleviate the risk of people contracting the sickness.

People staying home, inactive and fearful is opening our nation to a dark cloud of uncertainty and depression. We believe the church falls under health workers and very relevant during this season. Our message is therapeutic, reconciliatory, a remedy to the spirit soul and body of mankind, this message people cannot do without.

We humbly ask that you consider our petition and hearken unto the voice of the Holy Spirit. We conclude this petition with our national anthem, a hymn that conscientized us to the omnipresence of God;
