Pastor Steven Lee Anderson’s homophobic sermon has gone viral, with the preacher saying that we could have an “AIDS-free world by Christmas”, and egging on violence against the LGBTQ+ community; “if you executed the homos like God recommends, you wouldn't have all this AIDS running rampant”. 
 “Yeah, and? There’s not much we can do about it, is there?” Except there is. “Incitement to genocide” is a crime under international law, as stated in the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide: 

“The following acts shall be punishable: 
(a) Genocide; 
(b) Conspiracy to commit genocide; 
(c) Direct and public incitement to commit genocide; 
(d) Attempt to commit genocide; 
(e) Complicity in genocide.” 

and:

“Persons committing genocide or any of the other acts enumerated in article III shall be punished, whether they are constitutionally responsible rulers, public officials or private individuals”. 

Pastor Anderson undeniably falls under (c). Direct and public incitement to commit genocide. 
Everyone in the LGBTQ+ community is already facing horrific discrimination and oppression; a transgender woman is up to five times as likely to be sexually assaulted as a cisgender woman, the murder of same-sex-attracted people is still legal in most of the United States under the “gay panic”, defence, and LGBTQ+ young people make up nearly half of the nation’s homeless youth. 
 Why? Why are we ignored when we ask for justice? Why is this spawn of Satan still walking free? Why hasn’t he been sealed behind bars, where he can no longer harm others? The US Department of Justice has a duty to the legal protection of its nation’s citizens, and by allowing Anderson to continue harming my people, they are turning their back on that duty, and committing a moral and legal injustice. I want Anderson to be put away for as long as legally possible, for the sake of my people in the present, and those to come as well.
