The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that was established in 1997 following the merger of the United Nations Drug Control Programme and the Centre for International Crime Prevention. Its mandate is to assist member states in their struggle against illicit drugs, crime and terrorism. Headquartered in Vienna, Austria, UNODC operates in all regions of the world through an extensive network of field offices. The office conducts research, provides analytical expertise, implements field-based technical assistance projects and helps states to combat corruption, money-laundering as well as human, drug and arms trafficking.
