A long-time municipal councilor called me and opined that the Legislators are no longer accountable after passing and approving an ordinance.
That according to him, it is up to the Chief Executive and other concerned agencies and departments to implement.
If there is a failure, then they have nothing to do with it.
Is he correct?
Of course, the City Council could not be considered on the primary responsibility after the ordinance was crafted.
However, they have the moral obligation to make a follow-up and ensure that the laws being passed by them are implemented.
Otherwise, all their efforts will become futile and the purpose as lawmakers are defeated.
Now he is supporting us to the knee.
