Thousands of us now face daily exposure to wood smoke pollution - Council Env Officers are completely uneducated about PM2.5 emissions & appear to have no training or understanding of the Clean Air Act. Add to that the misguided belief that 'DEFRA approved stoves are "clean burning" and it is little wonder that we are increasingly exposed to air pollution - even in our own homes. The Gov have taken a wrong turn trying to promote wood burning(now called Biomass) as clean, safe and renewable. It has caused misery, death and health problems across the UK. It costs the NHS billions every year. The energy levy has been used to encourage a fortunate group of people to burn wood on a "the more you burn - the more you earn" basis known as the RHI scheme. It was flawed and poorly researched. Many have made substantial amounts of money from this scheme - literally hundreds of thousand of tax payers' pounds have been stolen to benefit a select number of very dishonest people and to promote an industry that has no concern at all for public health. There is no such thing as an Eco, 'clean burning' wood stove.
