DHHL Stand for Kanaka Maoli STOP TMT.

DHHL Stand for Kanaka Maoli STOP TMT.
The Issue
The Thirty Meter Telescope project (TMT) will resume construction upon, and destruction of, the sacred mountain Mauna Kea, beginning Monday July 15, 2019. The lengthy "approval" process for building this gigantic structure atop the most sacred natural place for native Hawaiian people, has consistently ignored the Human rights and Constitutional rights of the Kanaka Maoli, the descendants of the indigenous peoples of Hawaii. The process also falsely claims there won't be significant environmental and cultural damage, and ignores the pleas and factual arguments of thousands of native peoples at hearings and other places of public comment. The vast majority of attendees at these meetings are totally opposed to TMT on Mauna Kea.
Article XII, Section 7 of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii guarantees to the native people that the State "reaffirms and shall protect all rights, customarily and traditionally exercised for subsistence, cultural and religious purposes". Unfortunately, these absolute rights, which are independent from and above partisan legislation and rules, are constantly and arbitrarily violated by the TMT and the State and County agencies operating on their behalf.
We make this demand of DHHL, who as fee owner of the Homelands over which the Mauna Kea Access Road passes; and as representative agents of the native beneficiaries of these lands, whom are almost unanimously opposed to TMT: Immediately and permanently stop and prevent any TMT-related construction vehicles, machinery, equipment, materials and persons from passing over the Homelands portion of the Mauna Kea Access Road.
