Put A Price on Carbon

The Issue

Right now, companies can emit as much pollution as they like. In turn, this would have a negative effect on our climate. As long as it's free to pollute, no one is going to stop doing it. For so long our planet is slowly being destroyed and even if there are much bigger factors as to what is the reason, we are still part of the cause.

If we start putting a price on carbon, companies would start to think about how much they produce, and encourage better behavior. They would either lessen their pollution or pay for how much carbon they produce. If we don't start paying the true cost of carbon, we'll be paying for it in a major price in the future. An example is the state of California, who has implemented this policy and it made huge progress with lessened carbon, and has made huge economical progress by 12%.

Healthy air is for everyone, but that does not mean we can do anything that we want with it for as long as we want. This change could make for a better environment and a better economy.
