This is a petition opposing a proposed aerial drop of Sodium Monofluoroacetate (1080) on our tribal mountains the TARARUA RANGES.

Aotearoa, we ask for your support. 

The TARARUA RANGES have a rich beautiful history - do you know it? They were named TARA-RUA after Whatonga's two wives Hotuwaipara and Reretua. And there is a second tribal story which defines Tararua as "Ngā waewae e rua a Tara" or "the spanned legs of Tara", to mean that his people have a foothold on either side of the ranges. 

These sacred mountain ranges are cherished by the whole community so please join us and sign. Sodium Monofluoroacetate is a nasty poison that affects all species that come into contact with it including our native trees, birds, tuna patiki, inanga, kanae, rongoa and kairakau. As kaitiaki (guardians) we invite you to stand with us to help keep this poison out of our community and away from our children. 

There has been NO public health research into the harm caused from 1080 poison and for this reason we do not want 1080 in our environment.
