The issue

In 2005, a brutal crime shook New South Wales, Australia: the attempted murder of 18-year-old Lauren Huxley. Lauren was attacked in her own home by Robert Black Farmer, who severely beat her, set her on fire, and left her in a coma. Against all odds, Lauren survived, but her life and the lives of her family were irrevocably changed. This horrifying act of violence left a deep scar on the community and instilled a sense of fear and injustice.

Robert Black Farmer received a commendable 22-year prison sentence for his heinous actions, allowing the community to breathe a sigh of relief. However, his parole eligibility threatens to unravel the fragile sense of justice served. Granting parole to Farmer not only undermines the severity of his crime but also exposes the community to potential risk, and most crucially, it disrespects the hardships endured by Lauren and her family.

Parole should be reserved for those whose time in prison has demonstrated genuine remorse and positive change. It is imperative that we prioritize the safety and well-being of our community, ensuring that crime doesn't pay and justice is duly served.

The possibility of Farmer's release imposes unnecessary trauma on Lauren and her family, forcing them to relive the nightmare they have worked so hard to overcome. We must stand together to protect our community and provide the assurance that victims and their families desperately need.

Join us in urging the parole board to deny parole for Robert Black Farmer. Stand with Lauren Huxley, stand for justice, and stand for safe communities. Please sign the petition and make your voice heard.
