In South Africa Gender-based violence is a profound and widespread problem which disproportionately affects women and girls

In 2009, 56% of murdered woman where killed by an intimate male partner. Between 25% and 40% of South African women have experienced sexual and/or physical IPV (intimate partner violence). South africa also faces a high prevalence of gang rape and recently during the 2020 lockdown a big jump in murders in South africa occured since the start of level three not to mention that gender based violence cases rose by 500% since the start of the Covid-19 lockdown. That number is disgustingly high. 

Everyone deserves a fair trial but granting them bail or bond not only violates our right to safety and security but also allows dangerous criminals back on the streets, where they'll commit more crimes. BAIL/BOND SHOULD BE ELIMINATED
