Keep Calmer Choice in School: I have read that one member of our Dennis Yarmouth School Committee would like to get rid of Calmer Choice because she believes that the program is based on Buddhist beliefs.  Below is the mission statement right from the Calmer Choice website. Our Mission:Calmer Choice is a universal prevention program committed to teaching young people how to effectively and safely manage stress and resolve conflict so that they live happy, healthy and successful lives. Our goal is to provide skills that will diminish the risk of violence, substance abuse, and other self-destructive behaviors. I do not see anything about Buddhism in the Mission Statement.  In fact what I see is someone trying to help today's youth understand themselves better and help them make better choices. This program has helped many children in which the children have brought these teachings home and have taught parents.  You have the right to opt out of the program if you want to.   We need to stand up to her and tell her that our opinions count. With a child who has ADHD and other problems, this program has helped him immensely.
