Abolition of dolphin slaughter on a planetary scale Ask UN for a Charter of Dolphin Rights

The Issue

Even though they live in the ocean all of the time, dolphins are mammals, not fish. Like every mammal, dolphins are warm blooded. Unlike fish, who breathe through gills, dolphins breathe air using lungs.

Dolphins are capable of complex problem solving and social interaction. They are one of the smartest animals in the world. Studies show that dolphins not only have the ability to learn as individuals, but those individuals can then pass their new knowledge onto others.

Dolphins have a social and emotional life comparable to humans. They are intelligent living beings and consider us a friendly species.

We must create a non-aggression treaty on a planetary scale to prevent the killing of dolphins and punish this offense on par with an offense against humans.

We must address our protest to Countries that tolerate this cruel practice as Denmark - Faroe Islands, Japan, and Countries as West Africa, Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, India, Philippines, Burma where fishermen catch dolphins with nets in areas where there is no control.

We need an elevation of consciousness at planetary level and take the petition to the UN in order to draw up a Charter of Fundamental Dolphin Rights.
