Senate Republicans are proposing a plan to fund most of the Department of Homeland Security — while leaving ICE enforcement funding and oversight for later.

But this proposal comes without the reforms many lawmakers say are necessary to ensure accountability in immigration enforcement.

Democrats have already made clear that funding must come with basic safeguards, including limits on enforcement practices and protections for civil rights.

Passing a funding bill without those guardrails risks allowing controversial enforcement actions to continue without oversight or accountability.

This is not just about funding — it’s about how that power is used.

to reject any DHS funding proposal that does not include meaningful ICE reforms and accountability measures.
