Demi Day

The Issue

I am calling for the creation of "Demi Day"—a day dedicated to celebrating and spreading awareness about demisexuality

(apart of the asexual spectrum)

I want to reach those currently living in confusion, feeling like they're "broken" and show them that their way of experiencing love and attraction isn’t a sign that they're broken—it’s a legitimate, powerful identity.

A Different Kind of Wiring:

It is time to recognize that someone who is demisexual is wired differently.

In a world that often moves at a hundred miles an hour when it comes to sex and attraction, those of us who are demisexual move and operate at our own pace.

While so many others can experience attraction without a second thought, demisexuals require a strong emotional connection before that door even begins to open.

For so long, this difference has made people feel like outcasts in a world surrounded by "normal" people.

Why I am Starting "Demi Day":

To End the "Broken" Narrative:

I want anyone who feels "different" to know that there is nothing wrong with them.

Someone who is demisexual is not "broken" or "repressed."

They are simply individuals who need to have a strong emotional bond before they can feel that type of attraction for someone and value deep meaningful bonds; and that is a strength, not a defect.

To Stop the Gaslighting:

I've experienced how it feels to have my sexuality used against me—labeling me as broken or being a prude because I require a deep emotional connection to experience that level of sexual attraction and have high standards when it comes to who I let in.

"Demi Day" is a shield against that.

When we understand our wiring, no one can trick us into believing that there is something wrong with us or that we are the problem.

To Validate the "Target-Lock":

I want to celebrate the way demisexuals love. When that connection is formed, it is singular, intense, and incredibly loyal.

That is a beautiful way to experience another human being, and it deserves to be respected, not rushed or mocked.

To Provide the Name:

I know that finding the word "Demisexual" is life-changing.

I want to spread that word so that others don't have to spend years wondering why they don't "fit in."

The Message

If you are someone who feels like you’re waiting for a connection that the rest of the world seems to ignore—I see you.

You are valid.

Your pace is your own.

Someone who is demisexual is wired differently, not incorrectly.

"Demi Day" is about reclaiming the right to move at the speed of the heart.

It’s about letting the world know that while many lead with the body, others lead with the soul—and there is immense power in that.
