The Issue

Every day, USPS employees at the Albuquerque P&DC and ASF processing plants are confronted with an overwhelming issue that has become a significant source of stress and tension. The sheer volume of empty equipment and containers that clutter our workspaces is not just an inconvenience; it's a safety hazard. The areas designated for staging mail or equipment are perpetually blocked with these unused items, forcing employees to spend countless hours shuffling them back and forth.

The current situation is untenable. With designated spaces being used as storage for empty containers or MTE (Mail Transport Equipment), employees are thrust into a stressful environment where every tour struggles to find the space needed to perform their duties effectively. USPS management has compounded this issue by reducing the number of transport trucks, meaning the removal of this equipment is significantly delayed.

The safety and well-being of USPS employees should not be compromised. This abundance of unused equipment is not only causing inefficiencies but is also leading to work-floor altercations and fostering a hostile workplace environment. Despite complaints and OSHA being contacted, there has been little to no intervention, as USPS has been allowed to conducted internal investigations claiming no hazard or unsafe working exist or stating that the hazards have been corrected only to occur again the next day.

We are calling upon USPS headquarters and the plant manager to take immediate action by devising and implementing a comprehensive plan to remove empty equipment and containers from these facilities. Such a plan will ensure sufficient working space and create a safer environment for all employees. It’s time for those in charge to fulfill their responsibilities and prioritize the health and safety of their workers.

We urge you to sign this petition and support the call for necessary action to ensure a more efficient, less stressful, and safer working environment for USPS workers in Albuquerque's processing plants. Your signature can make a difference in holding those in power accountable and helping create a positive workplace.
