Demand US Congress to Criminalize Image-Based Sexual Abuse (previously "Revenge Porn")

The Issue

Dear US Legislators,
We demand federal legislation that criminalizes the non-consensual sharing of intimate images.

The Problem

Chances are, you know a victim who has experienced this nightmare. The sharing of intimate images has become a regular part of modern relationships, but with no recourse for victims and inconsistent state laws, the abuse of these images has proliferated. The Cyber Civil Rights Initiative conducted research that found 1 in 8 participants had been victimized by or threatened with non-consensual pornography. "The actual number is undoubtedly higher. As many as 10,000 websites feature "revenge porn," some dedicated solely to this content." -CCRI's Guide for Legislators by Dr. Mary Anne Franks.

My Story

I shared my testimony of becoming a victim of IBSA in the 2022 Netflix documentary, "The Most Hated Man on the Internet." But, like the others, I could not escape the crushing tidal wave of shame and depression. I narrowly survived. Tragically, some did not. So now I'm powering my purpose and initiative from that pain to advocate, support victims, and fight for legislation. Since the Netflix documentary aired, victims of IBSA have reached out to me on every platform seeking help.

Our Current Broken System

48 out of 50 states have adopted some legislation against image-based sexual abuse, but no federal law is currently in place. No government agency provides victim outreach.

Call To Action

Demand Federal Protections Against Tech-Facilitated Sexual Abuse
The United States still lacks federal laws to protect victims of tech-facilitated sexual abuse, including the sharing of non-consensual images, deepfake abuse, and sextortion.

The Senate has unanimously passed three critical bills, but they must clear the House by December 20 or they will die.

The TAKE IT DOWN Act
Criminalizes tech-facilitated sexual abuse, including AI-generated abuse, and requires tech companies to implement clear reporting procedures for victims. Platforms must remove harmful content within 48 hours of being notified, ensuring swift action to prevent further harm. The act also holds tech companies accountable for failing to act and includes protections for victims against threats to disseminate intimate content without their consent.

The SHIELD Act
Increases penalties for offenders and ensures survivors have legal pathways for justice.

The DEFIANCE Act
Criminalizes sextortion and dismantles networks that enable these crimes.

These bills will hold perpetrators accountable, protect victims, and force platforms to act responsibly. Congress must pass them immediately.

Sign this petition and urge the House to pass the TAKE IT DOWN Act, the SHIELD Act, and the DEFIANCE Act before December 20!

Victims cannot wait.
