The Issue

I am a resident of Tug Fork community in Belfry, KY, and I am reaching out for help for my daughter and me. This is our home, everything we have, and yet we are being asked to leave our apartments once again due to ongoing negligence in addressing necessary repairs. Despite paying rent and utility bills, we are unable to live in our homes due to unsafe conditions that remain unaddressed.

Currently, 56 families, including my own, face the looming threat of homelessness because repairs have not been made. FEMA has not provided assistance, and while Kentucky Emergency Management has been attempting to find us temporary housing, we have exhausted our funds moving from place to place, seeking refuge from conditions that should have been resolved long ago. The emotional and financial toll is overwhelming—we can no longer bear this burden alone.

Our rental housing, under HUD regulations, must be safe and habitable. Yet, despite our continued payments, repairs have not been completed, making our apartments unlivable. This not only affects our safety but also our dignity and basic living rights.

We urgently call upon local government officials and agencies responsible for housing management and support—specifically those in Belfry, KY—to hear our pleas. Immediate action must be taken to repair our homes and hold responsible parties accountable for these prolonged delays and negligence.

This is a plea for humanity, for the well-being of families who have already endured so much. We need answers, not more time, and we need them now. We are counting on our community, our leaders, and all who are able to advocate for our cause to support us in this desperate time.

Please, help us remain in our homes. Sign this petition to demand urgent repairs and adequate assistance for all affected families in the Tug Fork community. Let us restore dignity, security, and peace to our lives by ensuring swift and decisive action to resolve this crisis.
