Demand Urgent Action to Save 20,000 Stranded Seafarers Near the Strait of Hormuz
The Issue
Around 20,000 seafarers are stranded at sea in the Persian Gulf as the war has effectively shut down the Strait of Hormuz.
For nearly eight weeks, crews have been trapped on vessels:
Unable to dock safely
Facing drone and mine threats
Running low on food and fresh water
In some cases, unpaid for months
At least 10 seafarers have already been killed in attacks since the conflict began.
Some crews report being pressured to sail into dangerous areas or denied the right to return home.
The United Nations has called this an “unprecedented humanitarian crisis.”
We call on:
The U.S. government
The Iranian government
Shipping companies and vessel owners
International Maritime Organization (IMO)
to secure safe passage, allow immediate crew evacuation, and protect seafarers from further harm.
Sign to demand: act now—save stranded seafarers.
