The Issue

Olivia Underwood, an employee at University Medical Center, in Las Vegas, was recently arrested and charged with willful and malicious torture, maiming, or killing of her dog, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred when Underwood left her dog outside, confined in a crate without any food or water, under the scorching 110-degree sun. Tragically, the dog succumbed to these harsh and inhumane conditions and died.

Disturbingly, Olivia Underwood was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. However, she was able to post bail and is expected to return to court in July. This situation has left many animal lovers and residents of Las Vegas deeply concerned and demanding justice. The video which was taken live of the situation shows Underwood screaming at her neighbors to "get the f--- out of my yard" and had absolutely no remorse over her dogs death.

Her actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the welfare and life of an innocent animal, which cannot be ignored. Allowing her to remain employed perpetuates a message that such cruelty is tolerated, which is unacceptable.

We urge University Medical Center to take immediate action by terminating Olivia Underwood's employment. It is imperative to uphold values of responsibility and compassion within the community by ensuring that individuals involved in such egregious acts are held accountable, not only through the legal system but also professionally.

Animal cruelty cannot and should not be tolerated. If she treats animals in this regard, the question can only be raised on how she treats patients in her care. Please sign this petition to demand justice for the innocent life lost and to advocate for a safer and kinder community for all beings. Together, let’s ensure that justice is served and that a strong message is sent regarding the importance of animal welfare.
