Demand UBC to Repair Laundry Machines in Totem Park

Demand UBC to Repair Laundry Machines in Totem Park
The Issue
I am a resident of Salish House, Totem Park, a student housing complex at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and like many others, I am facing significant challenges due to the malfunctioning laundry machines. This issue is not only inconvenient but also has adverse effects on our personal health and hygiene.
Totem Park houses over 1,000 students each year (source: UBC Housing). With inadequate laundry facilities, we are often forced to wear unclean clothes or spend additional time and money at the laundromats. This situation is unacceptable for an institution that prides itself on providing excellent student services.
Moreover, the lack of proper laundry facilities can lead to health issues such as skin infections caused by wearing dirty clothes (source: Mayo Clinic). It also negatively impacts our mental well-being as we constantly worry about basic needs instead of focusing on our studies.
We urge UBC authorities to acknowledge this pressing issue and take immediate action towards repairing or replacing the faulty laundry machines in Totem Park, especially the old totem buildings. We deserve access to reliable amenities that ensure our well-being while we pursue higher education.
Please sign this petition if you believe in improving living conditions for students at UBC's Totem Park residences.
