As a concerned citizen, I am deeply troubled by the U.S. government's veto of the ceasefire, a move that directly contradicts the wishes of the American people. It is disheartening to see our elected officials ignoring our collective call for peace and stability.

Recent polls show that 61% of likely voters, including 76% of Democrats, 57% of Independents and even 49% Republicans support a permanent ceasefire and de-escalation in Gaza (source: YouGov). This overwhelming majority clearly indicates that we as Americans value peace over conflict.

However, despite this clear mandate from their constituents, our representatives have chosen to disregard our voices. This not only undermines democratic principles but also jeopardizes countless lives caught in the crossfire.

We must remind those in power that they are elected to represent us - their decisions should reflect our collective will. The time has come for them to put aside political agendas and heed the call for peace from those they represent.
