The issue

Tablelands Regional Council has been raising rates without delivering the appropriate services residents deserve. Our tap water remains non-potable, nature strips are mowed only once a year, and essential community facilities like toilets and pools are being demolished. It appears that funds are not being equitably distributed across all areas of the shire, with resources seemingly funneled to Prior Creek at the expense of other communities.

As ratepayers, we demand transparency and accountability from the Tablelands Regional Council. We believe that all residents have the right to know how funds are being allocated and why our services are deteriorating. By obtaining detailed financial records through the Freedom of Information Act, we can hold the council accountable and ensure that funds are used to serve the needs of all communities fairly and adequately.

Furthermore, transparency in financial decisions can strengthen trust between the council and residents. It allows us to have a say in where and how our money is spent, ensuring our communities receive the services and infrastructure needed to thrive. Access to these records will enable us to evaluate whether current expenditures align with community priorities and needs.

We call upon the Tablelands Regional Council to release their financial records immediately. Let us work together to ensure fair and equitable resource distribution, accountable governance, and improved quality of life for every resident.

Sign this petition to demand the transparency we deserve and help us hold the council to its commitment of serving all communities within the shire equally.
