Demand Transparency in Dog Legislation from Minister Humphreys

The Issue

As an avid supporter of the precious bond between people and their pets, I'm deeply concerned about recent decisions to BAN dogs , being attributed to the Dog control stakeholders group  under Minister Humphreys. Decisions regarding our beloved pets need to be clear, transparent, and inclusive. We, the Irish public, deserve full access to every recommendation, professional advice, and, crucially, the minutes of the stakeholders group meeting held on the 3rd of July immediately.

In Ireland, more than 450,000 households have dogs as pets, showcasing how deep our connection is with these animals (source: Eurostat). Therefore, any decision made regarding them directly impacts a large proportion of the population. Transparency on such a topic is not a luxury, but a prerequisite. I strongly believe that we, the Irish people, can make the most proactive decision once we have all the evidence spread before us.

It is for this reason we are calling on Minister Humphreys to release all related documentation and to commit to full transparency moving forward. We appeal to every supporter of transparency in governance and the rights of pet owners to sign this petition.
