Cwecwe, a seven-year-old student at Matatiele Bergview College, was sent to school only to be assaulted. This tragic incident has been shrouded in secrecy and clouded with questionable evidence handling, specifically concerning DNA evidence that has yet to be acknowledged appropriately. Those who love and care for Cwecwe seek answers. Why is this evidence being seemingly ignored? What is being concealed? These questions hang in the air, marring our trust in the institutions that are supposed to protect our children.

This case is not an isolated incident, unfortunately. Worldwide, an estimated 120 million girls under the age of 20 have experienced forced sexual intercourse or other forced sexual acts (UNICEF, 2014). It's frightful to realize that our children are not safe even within the school premises which are considered a second home.

We demand the utmost transparency from Matatiele Bergview College. We need open, honest answers to these pressing questions and a thorough investigation to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
