Demand Transparency and Fairness from Wowcher's Mystery Holiday Deals
The Issue
My personal experience with Wowcher's mystery holiday deal has led me to take up this cause. I, like many others, paid £99 expecting to embark on an exciting getaway. The excitement quickly faded when we realised that the promised holiday was much less than we bargained for. The dates and destination allocated significantly differed from the holiday we were offered initially. This deeply disappointing experience compels me to demand transparency and fairness from Wowcher, a company that is entrusted with turning hard-earned money into enjoyable experiences.
my email to Wowcher CEO
Dear Rowland
I purchased a Wowcher mystery holiday on 13th May (£258 in total) order number 47536*** We got Poland and were a little skeptical about visiting due to the proximity to Ukraine.
When Weekender breaks called they offered Costa Brava or Lake Garda.
Neither of us have been to Lake Garda and were excited as we are getting married in August.
This is when things got more expensive. We were told we had to upgrade to a breakfast package of £59 per person. Total cost now £376 not £99 per as advertised.
However we went ahead as we were going to use this as our honeymoon.
We then looked at the proximity from the airport to the hotel. Over 88km costing €200 per taxi per journey or 2.5 hours on the train.
This means to get to the hotel and back to the airport would cost £340 making the total cost £716.
This is before baggage, tourist tax and food.
We simply cannot afford this and couldn’t go so asked the weekender breaks (merchant) for a refund under the sales of goods act.
They refused, and said if they sent a cancellation notice I could claim on my travel insurance. I agreed and they sent the cancellation notice over. I claim on my insurance and it was declined.
This can’t be right.
I am now emailing you to request a refund under the sales if goods act. The holiday was miss sold as was not as advertised this breaks the consumer act 2015.
I am in talks with rip off Britain to feature this story.
I look forward to your response.
Kind regards
please help me in getting a resolution for people who bought the holidays and to get these ‘deals’ taken off Wowcher.
